“Reflection of a Miner” was taken in a real mine, nearly 1/2 mile (2,300 feet) underground, at the Soudan Mine in Northern Minnesota. Total – total – darkness when they shut the lights off for a few minutes. They put the lights back on next to the iron-laden wall in the back, which gave the rich red color, and my friend provided the silhouette. We were both noticeably relieved when the lights came back on!
